The Poet Sandal Maker: Jackie O, Maria Callas, Aristotle Onassis and John Lennon had their leather sandals made here so why shouldn’t you.  Custom made and fitted leather sandals for around 25 – 30 euros.  Ove 20 styles for both men and women to choose from.  Pantelis Melissinos the owner has taken over the reigns from his father continuing the tradition of fine craftsmanship.

Tip: The Diogenes, no. 10, looks great on men.

Ioanna Kourbela: If I were a real girl I would wear Ioanna’s designs.  Chic, elegant, beautifully made Greek designs.  Ioanna sells her lovely clothes out of two beautiful shops in Plaka that compliment all sizes and shapes.  Every women I have brought her has told me to make myself scarce for an hour so they could shop.

5. Dimitris Dassios: Opera singer turned fashion designer.  Make sure to try on his beautiful signature vests.  Run don’t walk!

6. Passion Alley – Vasia Jojopoulou: Isn’t this a great name for a store!  Vasia’s dresses, shoes and accessories are calling the inner rock star in you.  A favorite of the Greek celebrity set, her store is a worth a visit.

7. Ilias Lalaounis: If you are looking for classic, Greek jewelry masterpieces in gold and silver than look no further than Lalaounis.  With locations in London, Paris, New York, Geneva and Zurich Lalaounis has become synonymous with best of Greek jewelry design and craftsmanship.  There is something for everyone here.  Their small zodiac pendants and traditional Greek gouri (good luck symbols) make excellent presents.  The men’s cufflinks are sublime.  If you are lucky enough to meet the beautiful and charming Joanna Lalaounis while at the store or museum you’ll be in for a treat.

Zagori: Villages hidden behind mountains

Zagori is an area of great natural beauty and unique architecture in the Pindus Mountains in Epirus in Northwestern Greece. The area is of about 1.000 square kilometers and contains 46 villages. Zagoria villages is called by Greeks “Zagorochoria” meaning the villages behind the mountain.
