1. Sardelles: If you are looking for an excellent seafood taverna with style, in a great fun neighborhood that won’t break the bank than look no further than Sardelles (sardines in Greek).

2. The Butcher: Sardelles’ handsome meat loving sister restaurant is conveniently located right next door. Stunning views of the Acropolis from the upstairs balconies and a beautiful quiet garden in the back.

3. Kanella: If you want a home cooked meal made by an authentic Greek yiayia (grandmother) than get yourself over to Kanella.

4. Kuzina: Kuzina (the Kitchen) is a gift, all wrapped up and waiting to wow you when opened. Located on a busy pedestranized street sandwiched between the Monistiraki and Thisio neighborhoods Kuzina stands out for it’s beautiful decoration and inventive take on Greek classics.

5. Doris: The beauty of Doris is that is has no idea how simply beautiful it is. For over 100 years Doris has been serving up food to people-in-the-know in downtown Athens.

6. To Paradosiako “Boulis”: Tucked away on a small side street off Syntagma Square just at the border of the Plaka is this small unassuming taverna. Voulis, as the locals call it, is known for its unadorned, unpretentious, excellent seafood and meat dishes.
