To Paradosiako "Boulis"

{IMAGE TITLE}

Tucked away on a small side street off Syntagma Square just at the border of the Plaka is this small unassuming taverna. Voulis, as the locals call it, is known for its unadorned, unpretentious, excellent seafood and meat dishes.The menu is limited to what is local and fresh. Grilled sardines and kalamari, biftekia (mini Greek hamburgers), pork chops, excellent dips (do not miss the taramosalata) and delicately fried zucchini, Voulis never disappoints.Part of the charm of Voulis is the experience of eating there. On a recent visit, with two good friends, the owner smashed a wasp on the window just outside our table and proudly showed us her catch informing us that it could have killed us. We were impressed.

Tips:

You may have to wait for a table during busy hours. There is no waiting list so stay your ground and hover as Greeks have a tendency not to notice others who have been waiting before them.
Only the items on the menu with prices are the dishes available.
If you go for dinner, get there early and have a glass of excellent wine at the charming, adjacent wine bar Oinoscent.
