Kanella

{IMAGE TITLE}

If you want a home cooked meal made by an authentic Greek yiayia (grandmother) than get yourself over to Kanella.The prices are tremendously reasonable and the food is straightforward and basic. The restaurant appears to have been decorated with finds from the nearby Sunday flea market. What it lacks in culinary magic it makes up for in character, from the waiters and waitresses who like to have a bit of fun with you, to the customers who can sometimes appear to be plucked out of central casting.All the classic dishes are here. The fava (yellow spilt pea puree) is good and light. The Greek salad and lentils are decent and tasty. They fall a bit short when they stray from the classics so just keep it simple and you’ll have a good time.

Tip:

The train tracks run just across the street from the restaurant so don’t be alarmed when the whistle practically blows you out of your seat.Go for a drink across the street on the terrace of Mikra Asia. It’s a funky treat.
