London Greek Film Festival 2011

The 4th edition of London Greek Film Festival (LGFF) opens its doors today at the famous Westbourne Studios in Notting Hill, running through October 25.

 

Featuring short films, documentaries, animation, experimental films and video art in many world and UK premiers, this year’s festival aims at promoting the creative and optimistic side of Greece.

The screenings kick off with a tribute to Nikos Koundouros, presenting his film Byron, Ballad for a Daemon, to end up with a tribute to Michael Cacoyiannis and his last film The Cherry Orchard

Among the Festival’s highlights is the documentary Dialogues with Melina Merkouri on the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, which makes its world premier in film theatre.

Parallel events include Video Poetica workshops, opportunities for networking and entertainment and a big party to be held at Mythopolis on October 23. The festival concludes with Odysseus Awards ceremony on October 25.
