Kalfayan Galleries are hosting Raed Yassin’s solo exhibition titled Disco Tonight which starts on November 29 ending on December 10. Yassin will present two videos made during 2007-2009 in an effort to probe the role of cinema in the Arabic collective unconscious. The first video, Disco explores the artist’s infatuation with stardom and celebrity and Arabic pop.
Tonight, on the other hand, is a still portrait of a family – a sleek statement on the fragility of the family institution and the ways in which familial intimacy can be fragmented.
