The prefecture of Magnesia is one of the 51 Greek prefectures and belongs to the region of Thessaly. Geographically, it includes Magnesia region (in Thessaly) and Sporades islands; Alonissos, Skiathos and Skopelos. Volos is the capital of the prefecture with a population of 82,439 residents. Second most popular province is Almyros area. Almyros is a rural area engaged in the cultivation of cotton, cereals, tomatoes and almonds. Spanning from north to south along the east of Magnesia is the famous Pilion Peninsula. Magnesia prefecture combines scenic trails, beautiful beaches and peaceful moments close to the running water. It could be characterized as a best choice destination for those travelers who love highly developed places.
