Part of the periphery of Western Greece on the peninsula of Peloponnesus, the region of Achaia is an ancient land of exceptional natural beauty with forested mountainous landscapes that steeply roll down to its extended exotic sandy coasts as well as with important historical sites of Byzantine and post-Byzantine Greece. This combination makes Achaia one of the most favored holiday destinations in mainland Greece. Its high mountains that peak at the legendary Mount Helmos are dotted with rich woodlands and tranquil villages. What is more, Achaia’s beaches are considered among the finest, unique and protected in Greece.
