Olympus – Reach the home of the Gods for a rare trekking experience

Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece, the second highest mountain in Balkans and the wider European region (from Alps to Caucasus) too. It is widely known for its mythological framework and according to the ancient Greeks, the top of the mountain (Mitikas – 2917 m.) was inhabited by the Twelve “Olympian Gods”. Olympus shape, its diverse natural beauty but also the mountain’s high peaks that are surrounded by clouds and fog are only some of the reasons for making Olympus one of the most attractive poles in Greece.

Each year, thousands lovers of nature come here to admire the charm of nature and enjoy trekking around the mountain’s slopes. The path and its trail network are perfectly preserved to allow not only the experienced hikers but also the beginners to meet the varieties of flora and fauna towards a unique trekking experience. We suggest you to follow either the European route E4 (from Litochoro to the peaks) through Enipea gorge or the National Trail O2 that connects the mountain’s peaks to the south Pelion. If you have plenty of time to spend here, you can climb on the top of the second path and descend from the first while staying in the mountain’s shelters for one night. There are various sitting areas near springs and fountains that you can relax or meditate.
