Have you ever thought of a romantic and idyllic Gorge? Samaria Gorge is a National Park on the island of Crete and a major touristic attraction around Europe that you should absolutely cross on feet (17 km, 5-7 hours trekking). Even if you belong to the beginners or to the experienced walkers, wear your hiking shoes and invite your beloved one to one of the most attractive and highly romantic hiking destinations in Greece.

We suggest you to start early in the morning (The Gorge opens at 6:00 AM) to avoid crowds or even book a room and spend your previous night at Omalos village (Samaria Gorge starting point). You will start your route at Ksyloskalo, a steep path of wooden railing in both sides for visitors’ balance and protection. This is one of the most beautiful route spots if you think that the canyon descends to a depth of 700 meters after only 3 km. Aghios Nikolaos church lies after a while to take a rest before you visit Samaria village. Sideroportes is the most sensational and narrowest point of your route (3 m wide). Aghia Roumeli and its beautiful and romantic sea view will be a unique and fresh reward for your tired feet at the end of the trekking.
