Full-Moon moments under the Acropolis

“It is dressed in the majesty of centuries, it contains a living and incorruptible breath, a spirit impervious to age…” (Plutarch) Acropolis is the most important ancient site in the Western world and one of the most popular and spiritual destination for those who enjoy starring at the moon. Each year, during August, the Acropolis is dressed by several musical events and performances of ancient Greek drama in order to celebrate the full moon night.

The moonlight is peppered by various concerts and theatrical performances for all those travelers who want to get inspired by the majestic monument. When the day light falls, Acropolis Pentelic marbles are illuminated by the moonlight to “hug” the rest of the city. It is the actual time, when visitors become the icon’s puzzlers and storytelling begins. They put together historical pieces to come up with the Temple of Athena the Virgin. They discuss about Pericles, “the puzzle’s” leading constructor and politician, or Pheidias the “puzzle’s” main sculptor and supervisor. By the end of that, they all arrive at the desired solution; Acropolis will never quit lifting your spirits……During the moonlight event, the entrance for all visitors is for free.
