Morpheus: Even gods need to dream
Morpheus is the son of Nyx, the primordial goddess of the Night. He is the god of dreams, the older and master of the Oneiroi. The Oneiroi, Morpheus Phobetor and Phantasos are followers of Hypnos, the god of Sleep, bringing dreams to mortals and gods who fall asleep under his power.
Morpheus has a special gift to take any human form and appear in dreams, however his true form is said to be one of a winged daemon, like his brothers. Morpheus is responsible for shaping dreams, or giving form to the beings that dwell in dreams. Phantasos shaped tricky and surreal dreams while Phobetor on the other hand, made fearsome dreams. Together, the followers of Hypnos rule the sphere of dreams.
Morpheus however the oldest of the three, had a special duty to fashion the dreams of heroes and kings. For that reason, Morpheus is considered superior to his brothers and is called “the God of Dreams”.
