Icarus: The sky was not meant for men

Icarus was the son of Daedalus, the most talented Athenian craftsman of his time. According to the myth Daedalus gave a ball of thread to Ariadne daughter of King Minos in order to help Theseus enter the labyrinth and defeat the Minotaur, the half-man half-bull beast. King Minos imprisoned Daedalus and his son in his palace in Crete for this action because Theseus was his enemy.Daedalus fashioned a pair of wings made of wax and feathers. They would use these wings to fly away and escape from their prison. However Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too close to the sun because his wings would melt and he would fall.
Icarus overcome by his emotions soared through the sky, flying higher and higher until his wings melted, leaving his arms bare.

Icarus fell to the sea which even today bears his name, the Icarian Sea.
