Serifos capital, Chora, is the island’s ancient picturesque city that was built amphitheatrically on the rocky Livadi bay and used to protect the locals from pirates and foreign invaders in the past. Here you can take some pictures of the white houses that are located around the Venetian  Castle that was built in 1434. These two floor and three floor beautiful houses acquire a unique traditional architecture that will always remain on your mind’s album. Agios Konstantinos church is located at the city’s  highest point. When you go there, you will have the chance to admire the Aegean sea that lies in front of the church. Just a few meters below, Agios Ioannis Theologos church arises. The church is built on the ruins of Athina ancient temple. According to various to traditions, Medusa’s head is hidden here inside the secret catacombs.

Chora is divided into Ano Chora and Kato Chora. If you belong to the museum lovers then you should move to Kato Chora and discover the Archelogical Museum and Folklore Museum. The Archealogical Museum is a beautiful neoclassical building that is located in Milos square. Apart from other island’s findings, it also exhibits a series of headless statues since the Classical, Hellenistic and Roman period. The Folklore Museum belongs to Serifos Association and was founded in 1976. The museum exhibits various objects of locals’ everyday lives including local costumes, porcelains, ceramics textiles etc. Serifos land is really rich and this is the reason for another room in the museum. There you will admire a unique collection of precious rocks and stones. An outdoor theatre of 300 seats exists at the museum’s back side too. Various artistic and intellectual events take place there very often.
