The prefecture of Magnesia is connected to the mythical Centaurs (man and horse, ancient relationship) Pelias kingdom, Peleus and nymph Thetis brilliant marriage that was attended by Olympus Gods, Iasonas and Argonautica expedition.  The area was inhabited since the Neolithic Age with major centers Sesklo (7000 BC) and Dimini (5000 BC). The well-organized settlements, built on hills, along with its crystal clear waters and fertile land (for cultivation), have been highly developed by creating a great culture, that we admire today at the Museum of Volos. 40 prehistoric settlements have been identified around the prefecture such as Magoula, Zarelia, Pefkakia, Koufovouno, Pyrgos etc. The settlements’ findings provide precious information, not just on Thessaly Neolithic culture but also the rest Greek culture
