Rare documents from the history of Greece, such as the Constitution of 1844, bearing the original signatures of Greek representatives who composed and signed the text, an original letter from the Society of Friends (Filiki Etairia), from 1819, as well as a 10th century Gospel, were presented among others in an exhibition held at the Bavarian State Library in Munich.
The documents, in addition to several books, state documents and other rare objects, had been donated to the Bavarian State Library by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, who had inherited them from his uncle, Otto I, King of Greece between 1833-62.

In 1989, Professor of Byzantine Studies, Helen Ahrweiler is appointed Chairman of the Cultural Centre Pompidou in Paris
