Top score for “that’s Greece” video

{IMAGE TITLE}

In January of this year Harris Ikonomopoulos, President of the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Faye Leoussi, of Leoussis Advertising had a meeting with a double agenda:

Harris wanted to discuss the publicity material needed for a conference the BHCC was organizing in London.

Faye wanted to discuss the setting up of a mechanism to support the relaunch of www.thatsgreece.com  a site projecting the true character of Greece which Leoussis Advertising had first launched in 2001.

Harris came up with the idea: “let’s start the conference with this note: that’s Greece, that’s not Greece. Let us attack first and head on the misconceptions that exist today on Greece”. And that’s the origin of a video which is breaking any previous record in its category in Greece: in 2 months 300.000 views; no publicity, no advertising, just word of mouth, sharing and re-sharing on the net.

Why is the video so successful? Well certainly the copy of Danae Daska is very inspiring and accurate and the editing of Dora …is very good; and so is the music which was granted by Minos EMI and Archangel Music, the scenes used, the whole package. But the reason for this success is different: it’s the suppressed anger of Greeks for having to listen to torrents of unjust comments; listen and not answer because of guilt feelings. Yes indeed we had brought all that upon us, yes we should have been wiser and stopped this disastrous course earlier; but give me a break, don’t call me names; don’t think that you are immune to similar mistakes; I will do my best to rectify the ill and I can comply to a reasonable degree of patronizing but I don’t fancy false accusations or derogatory comments.

If you haven’t yet seen this video go to YouTube and search for “that's Greece vs that's not Greece”. Or just go to the right column of our home page and click the respective box.
