The monuments of Delphi are incomparable and justice cannot be done to them in a few lines. Above the main highway, there is the ancient theater, the Temple of Apollo and the Castalia Source, where Pythia would purify herself before giving her cryptic predictions. Beneath the road are the Gymnasium and the immediately recognisable circular edifice of the Sacred Temple of Athena with its three surviving columns.
The museum is also well worth seeing with the famous bronze charioteer that was hidden in a well during the Nazi occupation by the local villagers, who would rather endanger themselves than risk the occupiers making off with it.
