Apart from the ancient ruins, the area has other things of interest to offer as well. The monastery of Osios Loukas nearby with its exquisite 11th century mosaics and frescoes in the crypt, and also the church of Agios Nikolaos (the patron saint of seafarers, a sort of Christian Poseidon to the Greeks) in Galaxidi with its unique wood carved screen (templum). The minute details of this wood carved screen are incredible. The craftsman worked on it for at least ten years with extreme dedication and there are only two such church screens in the whole of Greece, none as beautiful or carefully crafted as the one in Agios Nikolaos.
